Something new

My first viking knit watch. Custom made for a co worker. I brought my beads to work and let her design it, she was thrilled and she did a wonderful job.

Special birthday

My awesome friend, best customer and greatest supporter commissioned me to make a necklace for her friend who is celebrating a special birthday. I was given complete freedom to create this unique piece. I have had the pleasure of meeting this amazing woman. She is classy, worldly, warm and down to earth.
I formed the cabochon from my 'upcycling' material, I soldered it to copper and hung the pendant on a weave of copper viking knit. I oxidized everything to create a warm, rich tone through out.
I feel that this necklace ties in all her wonderful qualities and I hope she wears it in good health.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

This is what we woke up to today, no power outages just a few flickers. I worked in my Treehouse Studio and made lots of new designs. The viking knit class that I was going to teach was cancelled last night, good thing.

History

It makes me wonder as I change cake plates, platters, spoons, forks, bowls and other dinnerware into one of a kind jewelry, who held these utensils and who attended the dinners where this beautiful dinnerware was once used. Many of this intricate dinnerware was around before electricity, cars, and electronic devices that ring, buzz, and beep during mealtime. Perhaps by wearing a piece of history one will be reminded to take a breath and slow down...if even for only a moment.

Upcycling all strung out

I have been designing and upcycling new chokers with recycled guitar strings. I just LOVE being able to use something that would otherwise be discarded, how much fun is that!
Enjoy and thanks for looking,

Sisterly Love

One of our dear friends is going to make a big change in her life. My close friends and I will support her through this the best we can. Sometimes I can't always find the right words to say in times like these so I created this piece of jewelry for her.
It's called," The key to a broken heart is to love again one day".
Time is a healer...

Commissioned pieces

I have been working on some pieces that were commissioned by a friend. Some are Birthday gifts, some are for Christmas. The little girls that will be receiving these have interests ranging from horseback riding to drama. I am fortunate to have free reigns so to speak to create these special pieces. I really like commissioned work, and I am really pleased with how these turned out.

Enjoy,

Recycling,Repurposing,Reincarnating

I have been busy, the rain is back and I look forward to many hours in the Treehouse upcycling new jewelry pieces. I find it so gratifying giving new life to old silver-plated and sterling silver discarded treasures. Using these forgotten dreams and time worn cast offs I am recycling and recreating them into wearable jewels.

I find my inspiration in flea markets, thrift stores and recycling depots. My friends and family are feverishly searching garage sales and other sources to find just the right pieces for me to transform. It is like Christmas when my parents send me a box filled with items that have intricate designs, shapes and textures. Thanks everyone for keeping your eyes and your wallets open for me.xo
