Other Creations

When I am not making jewelry, I like to sew. I haven't spent much time in my sewing room other than using it as my office for packaging jewelry, but I added some pics today of a few wall collages that I have created in the past. I am not a painter so this is my way of " painting with fabrics ".

I call the first one " Henry and Buddy " , a tribute to my brother and first dog who have both passed.

The next wall collage I call " Tres Amigos ".

Thank you for looking.

Going international

I decided to ship to destinations beyond Canada and the US. I am keeping track of where my jewelry is going with my world map. Hope I run out of pins...

Colors

COLORS... I am SO inspired, makes me want to buy more beads of many colors...

and make pretty pieces.

Flowers love the rain

Just a few fun mini hoops and mini rings that I created this weekend. People have been asking for small hoops, and I have been wanting to make small rings. Silver and copper, melting, hammering, stamping, soldering....what fun.

My wisteria seems to love all this dampness. I call it mine because my husband threatened to cut it down ( not good for the roof he says...) I promised to keep it trimmed and away from the roof. I guess I better get out there and keep up my end of the bargain.

May long weekend

May long weekend on the coast is still rainy and not what I would call warm. I bought some plants for the garden in hopes of getting my hands in the soil, but they still sit in their pots.

It's OK though, I took advantage of the weather to play in the Treehouse and visit with some dear friends. I learned a lot today, not only on jewelry making but of friendship and sisterhood. I caught up with an old friend who is troubled. I immediately came home to create a necklace for her which I call " Circles ". Our life goes through circles, some good, some bad. I hope that it brings her some peace and reassurance that she is working on getting in the right circle, or getting someone else in the right circle.
My thoughts are with you, xo.

commissioned work

One of my friends asked me to make this for her little niece who is a figure skater, for her birthday. I headed up to Our Treehouse studio and created this sweet little skate pendant. I sawed, filed, sanded, engraved and oxidized it. I laced through the copper wire which I feel really gave it a realistic look. I hope she loves it as much as I loved making it.

Happy birthday little figure skater.

Workshop Creations

Some of my workshop creations.

The stone is Rhodonite, and is found on Vancouver Island. I created this cabochon by sawing , shaping and polishing it on shop equipement. I started by creating the tree side of this two-sided pendant because I could see a little landscape scene in it that reminded me of the view I get from the local mountain that I often hike. But I changed my mind when I creating the detailed dragonfly that I placed to overlap the Rhodonite on the other side. That then became the focal point. I made the dog bone chain by cutting pieces of square sterling silver wire and placing each end in a rolling mill, drilling holes in each end and joining it all with jumprings.
The piece made it to 3 shows this year.
These are a few of the rings that I made. The middle one is made with a Snowflake Obsidien, it was my very first silversmithing project and how I fell in love with this art. The flower ring I made for fun with left over Rhodonite that I originally was going to add to the dragonfly necklace. Finally the spinning ring is the first ring I made in Our Treehouse studio. It has 3 spinning copper rings, it's addictive to play with when on your finger.

Daisy...It's the new Rose

I am working on a new line of daisies. They are so popular and selling well. So I have been busy in our treehouse studio sawing , filing, sanding, soldering, polishing daisies. Silver ones, copper ones, big, small, hanging , soldered, hoops, necklaces, and bracelets...

I love this little daisy design, it's so sweet and simple, yet elegant. Add the daisy to that special outfit for a fancy night out or simply watering the plants.

Check out my shop at www.etsy.com/shop/ourtreehousedesigns for my new daisy collection coming soon.

Spring

Spring has not sprung here on the west coast, mother nature has not turn the switch on yet.

Even though I am anxious to get in the garden and play in the sun I love that I can be in Our Treehouse creating new pieces.

I have a dear friend who requested some Alpaca earrings. I love a challenge so I ran up to the studio and came out with 2 little copper beasts. I e-mailed her a pic and she responded with " I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They will hang on the ears of a brilliant woman who owns an alpaca farm. She is wonderfully creative with her wool that she sheers, dyes, spins and knits into beautiful items to sell in her shop.

On another note, the daisy theme is a hit." The daisy...it's the new rose" ( thanks Steph xo)

So I am making daisies. I just sold a pair of sterling silver hoops with a sweet little sterling silver daisy, simple and everyday. Keep your eyes peeled in my shop for a new spring line-Daisies...

Thanks for looking,
